Laura Dumas

Laura Dumas, Senior Counsel at Clouthier Law, draws on her previous experience as a civil litigation attorney in both Texas and California to help clients navigate the appeals process. Prior to joining Clouthier Law, she counseled clients in all aspects of civil litigation, from case inception through resolution, and successfully resolved cases across a vast array of subject areas, including personal injury defense, real estate and land use, corporate governance, oil and gas, trade secrets, shareholder derivative suits, and suits involving government agencies. She has handled several cases through arbitration and trial, as well as civil appeals and writs. She spent seven years practicing in Silicon Valley prior to moving to Texas, and then served as Managing Counsel-Litigation at a boutique, business firm in The Woodlands. She now focuses her practice exclusively on appeals.

Laura graduated magna cum laude from Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1998, where she earned her B.A. in political science, biology and psychology, and received numerous academic awards. She later attended the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, where she graduated in the top 11% of her class and received the ABA/ALI Award for Scholarship and Leadership. She was also a best-brief award recipient in Appellate Advocacy and a Best Oral Advocate Finalist on the ABA-sponsored National Moot Court Competition Team. She also served as a teaching assistant and adjunct professor in Appellate Advocacy at McGeorge School of Law.

Laura is a member of The Woodlands and Montgomery County Bar Associations and the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She has been a frequent speaker and guest lecturer, and she currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Houston Junior Aeros Hockey Association, d/b/a the Houston Wild. She enjoys obstacle course races, all sports, and spending time with her husband and two children.
